Thoughts Go Out To Injured Circus Performers

Our thoughts go out to the performers at the Ringling Bros Circus who were injured in a horrific accident that occurred on May 4th at Rhode Island, USA.
The performance of the “human chandelier” featuring eight women suspended by their hair was underway and proceeding normally when the rigging suddenly gave way. The women and the rigging plunged a full five metres, and many spectators believed that it was part of the act at first.
Once it had become clear that it was not part of the act, many spectators left the building immediately as they had children with them. The house lights that were highlighting the performance were turned down to shield young viewers from the grim scene. Several of the performers were injured and were taken to hospital.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it is believed that there was a problem with the rigging which was taken care of by Circus personnel and not personnel employed at the Dunkin Donuts Centre.
Several of the performers are still in hospital and our thoughts go out to them and to their families.
Some people thought we may have been involved, but no, we are all safe and sound but it does remind us all that what we do can be so very dangerous!!!
